Checkers online free: play against the computer or 2 players
Checkers (also known as draughts) is the classic board game, free to play in your browser on your phone or computer, with nothing to download. Play against the computer across 5 levels, from Rookie to Master, or challenge a friend on the same device. The board and pieces look like 3D wooden toys, and there is a top-down view too.
How to play checkers
- Each player has 12 pieces on the dark squares.
- Tap a piece to see where it can go, then tap the destination. Men move one square diagonally forward.
- Capturing is mandatory: jump over an opponent’s piece to the empty square behind it, and keep jumping in the same move if you can.
- A man that reaches the far row is crowned king.
- You win when your opponent has no pieces or no legal moves. It’s a draw after the same position three times or 40 moves each without captures.
Spanish draughts or English checkers
The default rules are Spanish draughts: flying kings that move and capture at any distance, and you must capture the most pieces possible (with a king if it’s a tie). In the settings you can switch to English checkers: kings move one square, black moves first and you may choose any capture.
