Brickstorm: the brick breaker game with spin, super strikes and bosses

Brickstorm is a free brick breaker you play right in your browser, on your phone or your computer, with nothing to download. You control a paddle at the bottom of the screen; the ball bounces off it and smashes the bricks above. Let the ball slip past you and you lose a ball.

How to play

  • On mobile: drag your finger anywhere on the screen and the paddle follows, so your finger never covers it. Tap to launch the ball.
  • On desktop: move the paddle with the mouse, the arrow keys or A and D. Click or press space to launch.
  • The angle depends on where the ball hits the paddle.

What makes it different

  • Spin: move the paddle just as the ball hits it and the ball curves in that direction.
  • Super Strike: break bricks in a row without the ball returning to your paddle and the meter fills up. Once it’s full, your next paddle hit fires a beam that cuts through everything and deals triple damage.

Brick types

  • Normal: one hit and they’re gone.
  • Tough: take 2 or 3 hits and crack a little more each time.
  • Metal: unbreakable, and you don’t need to break them to clear the level.
  • Explosive: blow up their neighbours and can set off chain reactions.
  • Moving: slide from side to side.
  • Prize bricks: always drop a power-up.

Power-ups

  • Wide paddle, multiball ×3, laser and fireball, which plows straight through bricks.
  • Slow ball, a magnet that catches the ball, a one-use shield along the floor and an extra life.
  • And the bad one: the red small paddle capsule.

Four worlds, four bosses

  • Garden with the Beetle King, Beach with the Titan Crab, Snow with the Glacier Yeti and Space with the Mothership.
  • Each world has 5 levels, 20 in all. The first ones are slow and easy; the ball speeds up every level.
  • Earn up to three stars per level: clear it, clear it without losing a ball, and beat the target time.

Storm mode

  • Storm is endless: the rows move down every few seconds and new, ever tougher ones keep appearing.
  • If the bricks reach the bottom or you run out of balls, it’s game over.
  • Chase your high score on the weekly leaderboard.
