Munchy Maze: the Pac-Man style maze game, reimagined

Munchy Maze is a free maze game you can play in your browser, on your phone or on your computer, with nothing to download. It’s a maze game like the classic Pac-Man, but with its own characters: you play as Munchy, a hungry little jelly ball, and you have to eat every dot in the maze without getting caught by the Grumblins, four grumpy little critters.

How to play

• Move by swiping anywhere on the screen, or with the arrow keys or WASD on a computer. There’s also a touch D-pad in the settings.
• Turn before the corner: Munchy remembers the turn and makes it as soon as the corridor allows. Turning around is instant.
• Eat all the dots to clear the maze. The big pills scare the Grumblins for a few seconds: then you can eat them (200, 400, 800 and 1600 points in a row).
• The tunnel on the sides takes you to the other end, and the Grumblins move slower in it. Every now and then a fruit appears that gives extra points.

The Grumblins

• Rufo (red) comes straight for you.
• Pispa (pink) tries to cut you off from the front.
• Turbio (turquoise) teams up with Rufo to trap you.
• Mimo (orange) is shy: he comes closer, but when he gets near he gets scared and runs off.

Sometimes they scatter to their own corners and sometimes they chase you: make the most of the breathers.

What’s new

• Sprint: with the lightning button (or Space) you run super fast for a second; then it recharges.
• Power-ups: frost (freezes the Grumblins), magnet (pulls in nearby dots) and shield (saves you from one hit).
• Special tiles: ice where you slide faster but can’t stop or turn back, portals that only you know how to use, and keys that open doors with dots behind them.

Adventure: four worlds and four bosses

• Sweet Garden: the first mazes, slow and relaxed, and the Big Grumble.
• Frozen Cave: icy floors and the Frost Queen, who charges in a straight line.
• Sun Ruins: portals and the Grumble Wizard, who teleports.
• Clockwork Forge: keys, doors and the Grumble King, who calls for backup.

Bosses can only be hit while they’re scared: eat a pill and go get them. Each maze awards up to three stars: for clearing it, for not losing any lives and for doing it fast.

Classic mode

In Classic mode the maze refills every time you clear it and each round gets faster. Earn an extra life at 10,000 points, beat your record and climb the weekly leaderboard.
